about

While promoting the third John Wick film in 2019, Keanu Reeves was interviewed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Seemingly out of nowhere, Colbert flippantly asked, "What do you think happens when we die, Keanu Reeves?" The actor's response was disarmingly thoughtful and profound. This song, which was one of my beloved Mum's favourites of mine, pays tribute to that moment.
(I purposely haven't watched the full interview, only the clip that went viral. The rest of the lyrics are imagined, and not reflective of what Colbert may have actually asked.)

lyrics

What was it like away from your home for months?
I understand you did all of your own stunts
Was this your first time working with Halle Berry?
And what do you think happens when we die, Keanu Reeves?

You're living in your own private Idaho
What's on the inside? You don't let the public know
You've made enough money to live on for centuries
But what do you think happens when we die, Keanu Reeves?

I know the ones we love will miss us
I know the ones we love will miss us
I know the ones we love will miss us
I know the ones we love will miss us
