Chrysalids

by Ally Craig

/

about

This track was inspired by the John Wyndham novel The Chrysalids (released in the US as Re-Birth). The novel is set in the aftermath of an apocalyptic nuclear event, and focuses on a group of teenagers who become outcasts when it is revealed they were born with telepathic abilities. The outcasts are the next step in humanity's progression; the fundamentalist, conservative society which shuns them is doomed to stagnation.

lyrics

Love is just a thing we say
A misted mirror reflecting grey
It should be a thing we do
That grows from me to comfort you

Close your eyes and focus on the dark
Close your eyes and focus on the dark inside

Is there nothing we can do?
Is there nothing we can say?
Is there nothing we can do to change their hearts?

We are what is coming, you'd better beware!
